Members Achievements

Bandu Gunaratne is a photographer of international repute who is also a founder member and an ex-Secretary of the ISLP. He is a Fellow of the ISLP, a Licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain, The British Professional Photographers Associates, an Associate of India International Photographic Council, an Honorary Fellow of The National Photographic Art Society of Sri Lanka & National Association of Photographers of Sri Lanka. He gained his reputed ‘Excellence – FIAP’ distinction in year 2010. Apart from his local photographic achievements, his works have been exhibited in 30 countries around the globe in more than 65 Salons winning 19 Awards. Bandu has had participated and represented Sri Lanka in international and regional photography related events in India, Singapore, Germany, China, USA, Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippines.

He serves as the Country Leader for ‘Crossing Bridges’ a gathering of photographic communities of South & South East Asia which is represented by 7 countries. Gunaratne’s works have been published in ‘Discover the RPS’ and ‘Portfolio Two’ of the Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain, ‘Asian Photography’ and ‘Smart Photography’ magazines. Nevertheless, some of his works were published in three issues of ‘Serendib’ inflight magazine of Sri Lankan Airlines. He has extended his services as resource in numerous workshops and seminars organised by schools, photographic organisations, government and private sector companies.

He has served as a member of the State Council for Photographic Art under the Department of Cultural Affairs and also has rendered his services for the establishment of N.V.Q. for Photographer on invitation by the Ministry of Vocational Training of Sri Lanka. Bandu has served as a member of a panel of selectors in most international photographic salons held locally.

Bandu Gunaratne was conferred with prestigious ‘Kalabhushana’ – once in lifetime award by the government of Sri Lanka – in 2021 as a tribute to his services rendered to the field of Photography. Apart from that he was awarded with ‘Suwanda Padma’ Sovereign Award by Mihindu Cultural Foundation and ‘Vishwabhinandana’ Award by the Western Provincial Council of Sri Lanka.
