32th AGM Gallery

The Institute of Sri Lankan Photographers celebrated its 32nd Annual General Meeting and its Ceremonial Session on the 25th of July 2026, at the “Orchid Hall” of the BMICH. The grand event brought together photography enthusiasts, Industry leaders, and seasoned professionals to celebrate a year of artistic growth, ISLP milestones, and exceptional membership achievements. The Annual General Meeting which was held prior to the Ceremonial Session saw members of the ISLP appointing the Working Committee Members to the Council. Mr. Travis Batcho was reappointed as the President of the ISLP. Mr. Ranjith De Silva and Mr. Chandana Fernando were appointed as Advisors to the Institute. The Nominations for posts of Treasurer, Secretary and Assistant Secretary were also approved and appointed by the house as well as 9 others as General Council Members which constitutes the backbone of the ISLP. The Ceremonial Session saw the colourful welcoming of the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour together with veteran photographers of repute joining in lighting the traditional oil lamp. The Chief Guest & Keynote Speaker Prof. Maithree Wickramasinghe, delivered an inspiring lecture addressing the history of photography as well as new trends such as AI and how to face the modern era in the photographic field. The lecture was of a very high caliber and the members/guests both Professional and Amateurs were enriched by the valuable delivery on photography as well as its future prospects. The President Mr. Travis Batcho thanked all the lecturers, sponsors and participants who participated in the monthly Members Day programs and workshops to make the ISLP a lively and active Institute. He also took into consideration suggestions made by the House at the AGM relating to improvements of the ISLP. The Guest of Honour Mr. Taslim Rahaman, Director of Metropolitan Photohub, who has been in close association with the Institute for over a decade and been supporting the ISLP sponsorships and other aspects was given due recognition as an Honoured Guest to grace the occasion. Mr. Suresh Herath the General Manager of Metropolitan Photohub who participated in all ISLP activities, personally attending and supporting in Photographic classes, workshops with new version Canon cameras and reputed lecturers was honoured with an Honorary Fellowship at the Ceremonial Session for his long-standing unstinted support to the ISLP. Veteran Photographer Mr. Aruna Kirtisinghe who was also a Council Member from the inception of the ISLP and Secretary for over 20 years was bestowed with a “Once in a Lifetime Award” for his longstanding and dedicated service to the Institute. Past Council Members were also bestowed with Awards in recognition of their dedicated service to the ISLP and the “Best Council Member Award” for 2025/26 was awarded to Mr. Lalith Croos for his exemplary service. Further key awards made were the Distinctions of “Licentiate”(L.I.S.L.P) and “Associate” (A.I.S.L.P) awarded to Members who had submitted photographs as well as connected documentation of achievements to gain recognition for Distinction Titles. Several awards were also presented to Student batches of Ratnavali Balika Vidyalaya that participated at photography classes conducted by the ISLP. Thus concluded the 32nd Annual General Meeting and Ceremonial session of the Institute of Sri Lankan Photographers.
