26th Annual General Meeting of the Institute of Sri Lankan Photographers

26th. Annual General Meeting of the ISLP was ceremonially held at O.P.A. auditorium, Prof. Stanley Wijesundara Mawatha, Colombo 07 on 22nd. August 2020 amidst a gathering of members and distinguished guests. This year the A.G.M. was held maintaining the government’s health care guidelines thus the number of participation was limited. Former Director General of Health – Sri Lanka Navy Rear Admiral Dr. Lalith Ekanayake participated as the Chief Guest who delivered the keynote address on Wildlife Photography. The Council members of the past year Mr. Arosha Amarasekara, Mr.Sampath Peiris, Miss Sewwandi Abhayaratne, Mr.Rohan Fonseka, Mr.Jagath Kalupahana and Mr Travis Batcho were felicitated for their services rendered towards the success of Institute’s workshops while Mr.Franklyn Hingert was presented with a memento to appreciate his efforts organising the ISLP Cricket Fiesta.

Mr. Wilfred Hemachandra who was a founder member of ISLP and Mr. Ranjith De Silva who was a Past President of ISLP were honoured at the ceremony as Institute’s Honorary Fellows as a respect of their services rendered to the field of Photography. Mr.T.C.P.S. Perera had been qualified as a Licentiate of the ISLP whose certificate was presented at the ceremony. The resource persons of the workshops held in the past year Mr.Thilina Niriella, Mr.Pandula Bandara, Mr.Sumedha Gurudasa and Mr.Athula Mahawalage were presented with mementos in appreciation of their valued services. Rear Admiral Dr.Lalith Ekanayake who is also an award winning wildlife photographer showed how to take simple but uncommon wildlife photographs in his presentation, with examples of pictures captured at Yala National Park merely during a day’s visit. Dr.Ekanayake was presented with a memento to mark his presence by the President Mr.Denzil Fernando together with the Secretary Mr.Bandu Gunaratne. The Secretary highlighted the statement quoted by the Chief Guest Dr.Lalith Ekanayake “Always try to explore more than what you see – Develop patience if anyone wants to be a good wildlife photographer”, in his Vote of Thanks.
